When is the best time for a Newborn shoot
The best time for a newborn session is the first 14 days after your baby is born. During this time we can pose your baby in those super cute curled up positions that make amazing shots.
Don't worry if you can't book in or if life takes over, we can still capture amazing images after 14 days but your baby is likely to be less sleepy and may stretch out more so certain positions may not be possible. However it's always still worth it to get them at all stages.
Best to contact us after the 20 week scan, and advise us of your due date. We can book a provisional session, which of course is adjustable should your baby arrive earlier or later than expected.
Where do the photo shoots take place and how long does it take
Taken in the comfort of your own home. A small cleared space where we can set up our mobile studio. Power supply is required.
We take as long as we need to ensure get the perfect shots of your little one, usually 2-3 hours. This allows for feeding, cuddles, nappy changes and general comfort.
What will happen during my session
Our aim is always to make it as relaxed and calm as possible. Photo's are taken whilst your little one sleeps, with time for soothing and feeding and anything else to ensure comfort. You may worry that they will not sleep however it's very unlikely to be the case. We have many techniques to get them to drift off, during which time we will continue to take pictures.
What if my newborn won't settle and pose
We follow safe practice, and should your newborn dislike a certain pose we will move on. Newborns are the boss here. There's many cute poses to choose from, so there will be always be a selection.
Safety and edited pictures
We may ask mum/dad/guardian to help hold the little one to achieve certain poses. For safety reasons these are edited and are not safe to do unsupported. Safety always comes first.
We also expect the occasional 'toilet accidents' and well prepared for this happening so don't worry. We have plenty of blankets and props should we need to change the set up on the day. Everything, absolutely everything is washed in baby friendly non-bio washing powder after every session.
